People Who Know Magic Don’t Need Tricks

People who know magic don't need tricks

The more people we know, the more we are aware that those who know how to carry their ‘genius’, their ‘magic’, within them, need nothing else to reach others. John Lennon had magic in everything he did; Dalí didn’t need any tricks to paint what he wanted, and Charles Chaplin didn’t even need to speak to conquer half the world.

The best way to make ourselves known is to understand who we are and show us this way: without filters, without masks, without superficiality. Because whoever has magic needs no tricks.

Be natural, neither perfect nor imperfect

Recently I read a social networking post by Michelle Jenner about the supposed perfection that is unconsciously demanded of us and that we often demand of ourselves as well. We wax, we try on clothes for hours, we put on make-up and we look at ourselves a hundred times in the mirror. It’s as if we’re trying to look for what we’re not really.

Then we go out on the streets and think it’s important what others see in us. So we do our best to make that happen, but we are neither imperfect nor perfect: our essence is what connects us to others.

For that reason, spontaneity and honesty are the behaviors that will make us enjoy what we experience and help us maintain deeper and lasting relationships. Errors will soon be discovered and therefore it is better to love them from the beginning.

She’s crazy, but she’s magical

You must have heard that phrase before, but what you may not have known is what Bukowski, another genius, said. There is no lie in her fire, he added. What he meant was what we said earlier: the people who give themselves to others, without thinking about the way they do it, are sincere and we love them.

Bukowski’s ‘madwoman’ is the one who gives herself faithfully and without any kind of distortion. She is the one who understands that she will find the truest results of her life in the simplicity of the one who knows what they feel and how they want to feel it.

In that sense, why do we love the spontaneity of children? Because they are able to put their heart and soul into everything they do, they normally build friendships without prejudice, are innocent and are surprised more often than adults. In addition, they do not understand the sense of ridicule and above all they are sincere.

There are people who can make magic, although they never know

When Vanesa Martín mentioned this at one of her concerts, I remembered those friends who did everything they could to grow as individuals and never get paralyzed. At that moment I thought of times when others save us without realizing how important what they do to us really is.

The simplicity and magic of those who give what they have without wanting anything in return deserves to be kept close, more than false pretense synonymous with failure. At some point, we have all discovered something about an important person that took us completely by surprise.

For all these reasons, it pays to surround ourselves with people who know they can be magical and they are allowed to be; those who don’t need tricks to show their face to the world. That is why it is also said that not knowing which of the two is lucky enough to get to know the other is the best aspect of friendship. And this is only possible if both are sincere.
